How to Retroactively Apply a Template to a Post

If you’ve already created a post but need to update it with a new or different template, Videospan makes it easy.
You can retroactively apply an editable template to any existing post — instantly updating the video with your latest brand standards.

When to Use This

  • You’ve updated your organization’s branding or template design.

  • A post was created before your brand templates were finalized.

  • You want to reformat an existing post for a different aspect ratio or campaign.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select the Collection

From your dashboard, go to Collections and open the collection that contains the post you want to update.

2. Open the Post

Click on the post to open its details view.
You’ll see your original video, captions, and any previously applied template.

3. Go to Template Videos

In the left navigation panel, select Template Videos.
All current branded versions of the video will appear here.

4. Select a New Template

At the top of the Template Videos page, open the Template dropdown menu.
From the list, choose the new template you want to apply.
This could be a refreshed brand layout, a new campaign design, or a different aspect ratio.

5. Click “Apply Editable Template”

After selecting your new template, click Apply Editable Template.
Videospan will automatically regenerate the video with:

  • The updated intro/outro bumpers

  • New overlays or watermarks

  • Updated caption styles and fonts

  • Current background audio and color palette

Note: The new version won’t overwrite your original video — it creates a fresh, editable template output.

6. Review and Share

Once processing is complete:

  • Preview the newly branded video.

  • Download it, publish to social, or share via the branded playback link.

Tip: Always review the new video before sharing to confirm alignment with your brand standards.
