Template Elements Reference
Every Videospan template is made up of configurable elements that control how your videos look, sound, and behave.
This guide explains what each section and setting does, so you can confidently customize your brand templates.
Name & Aspect Ratio
These settings define the overall identity and layout of the template.
Template Name
The internal and display name of your template.
Use clear, descriptive titles such as Corporate 16:9 Landscape or Social Vertical 9:16.
Video Aspect Ratio
Specifies the shape of your video:
16:9 — Standard landscape (YouTube, web)
9:16 — Vertical (Instagram Reels, TikTok)
1:1 — Square (LinkedIn, Facebook)
Aspect ratio controls the framing and output resolution for all generated clips.
Default Object Fit
Determines how uploaded or recorded video content scales within the frame:
Contain – Fits the full video inside the frame (may show padding).
Cover – Crops edges to fill the frame completely.
Fill – Stretches the video to match the frame (not recommended for people shots).
Tip: Use Cover for dynamic, fullscreen visuals; Contain for precise framing or slides.
Overflow Background
Defines the background color or image shown behind content when the source video doesn’t fully fill the frame.
Use a solid brand color, gradient, or blurred duplicate of the base video.
Overlays & Watermarks
This section controls persistent or decorative graphics layered on top of the video.
Watermark
Displays your logo or brand mark in a fixed position (e.g., top-right corner).
Supports transparency (PNG/SVG).
You can adjust placement, opacity, and scale.
B-Roll
Optional secondary footage or imagery that can overlay or cut in during the main clip.
Ideal for enhancing storytelling or visual variety.
Set playback duration, transition, and opacity levels.
Overlays
Static or animated visual layers such as frames, borders, or branded graphics.
These can appear throughout the video or during specific segments.
Use transparent PNG or MOV files for best results.
Tip: Keep overlays subtle to avoid obstructing speakers’ faces or captions.
Captions
Auto-generated or uploaded subtitles styled to your brand.
Customize font, size, color, animations, placement, and more.
Automatically syncs with spoken audio or uploaded transcript.
Captions improve accessibility and drive higher engagement on silent autoplay feeds.
Lower Third
Text banners that identify speakers, titles, or topics.
Customize text style, color, and animation.
Supports dynamic variables (e.g., speaker name, title and organizations auto-fills from metadata).
Set entry/exit timing and transition type (fade, slide, etc.).
Use consistent lower-thirds across all templates for unified brand presentation.
Bumpers
Short branded clips that play before (intro) and/or after (outro) the main video.
Accepted formats: MP4, MOV.
Recommended length: under 5 seconds each.
Common uses: company logo, tagline, campaign slogan.
Bumpers instantly communicate brand identity and professionalism.
Background Audio
Background music or ambient sound applied across the full video.
Upload custom tracks or select from Videospan’s licensed library.
Set fade-in/out duration and volume mix (relative to dialogue).
Optional loop control for longer videos.
Keep background audio below ~30% of main volume for clarity on spoken segments.
